Rich Site Summary (RSS) is a type of web feed that allows you to access updates to online content, in a standardized format. By adding the RSS feed of a website to an RSS reader, like Feedly, you’re capable of accessing multiple website’s newest blog content in a single, centralized feed.
If you like keeping up-to-date on music production news, tutorials, gear reviews, and interviews, RSS will streamline your discovery process. To add an RSS feed to Feedly, first create a free Feedly account here. Login with Google, Feedly, or Facebook, and in the bottom left corner of your screen click on “Add Content.”
You can search for a feed by topic, website, or RSS link. Some sites have multiple RSS feeds containing different content, so it’s important to make sure you’ve selected the right feed.
Import All 12 RSS Feeds at Once
To import all of the following music production RSS feeds into Feedly at once, download this OPML file. Login to Feedly and click on the gear icon next to the word “Feeds” on the left side of your Feedly dashboard. On the page that loads, click on “Import OPML.” The page you're on now should look like the image below. Click on “Choose OPML File,” navigate to the OPML file you’ve downloaded, and click “Open.” Alternatively, you can drag and drop the OPML file into the area that says “Drag an OPML file here.” This process will create a new feed that contains all of the following RSS feeds.
Import RSS Feeds Individually
If you click on an RSS link, you'll usually end up on a page full of code. These pages of code are meant to be read by an RSS feed reader, such as Feedly, and not by humans. To add a single RSS feed to Feedly, copy and paste one of the following RSS links into Feedly’s search bar after clicking on “Add Content”; a number of search results will appear. To follow a particular feed, click “Follow” and add the feed to a “New Feed.” I’ve called the feed that has all of my music production RSS feeds “Music Production.”
